(Selfheal) Prunella Vulgaris Seeds. Prunella Vulgaris is a genus of herbaceous plants in the family Lamiaceae, also known as self-heals, heal-all, or allheal for their use in herbal medicine. The herb is perennial and belongs to the mint family.
It has been used medicinally for centuries. In fact, the entire plant, which is edible, can be used both internally and externally to treat a number of health complaints and wounds. The plant’s most common use is for the treatment of cold sores.
Prunellas are low-growing plants, and thrive in moist wasteland and grass, spreading rapidly to cover the ground. They are members of the mint family and have the square stem common to mints

Leaves are used as raw or cooked in salads and soups. Fresh leaves and stem of herb are rich in protein, plant fat, carbohydrate, carotene, vitamin B and nicotinic acid.

• The whole plant is considered as alterative, antibacterial, antipyretic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, diuretic, febrifuge, hypotensive, stomachic, styptic, tonic, vermifuge and vulnerary.

• It is used as a tea in treatment of fevers, diarrhoea, sore mouth, cold sores and internal bleeding.

Growing Selfheal

• Sow seeds in spring or autumn..
• Amend the soil with organic matter and plant prunella about 4 to 6 inches deep and space 6 to 9 inches apart.
• Prunella Vulgaris Seeds should be lightly covered with soil and can be thinned as needed once seedlings emerge.
• For those starting seeds indoors, do so about 10 weeks prior to spring planting.
• Prunella is related to mint and prone to vigorous spreading, so it is best to plant it in a pot, if you do not want it spreading everywhere.
• Mature plants reach about 1 to 2 feet high, at which time they will fall over and attach new roots to the ground.
