Rape (Brassica napus), is a bright-yellow flowering member of the family Brassicaceae (mustard or cabbage family), cultivated mainly for its oil-rich seed. Also known as colpa, colsa, colerape, tori, and chou oleifere, it is a cool-season annual plant similar to turnip and rutabaga. The aerial portions of rape plants are used to produce oilseeds, fodder, and vegetable crops.
