Common names: Weeping Anthericum (Eng.); watergras (Afr.) Chlorophytum saundersiae is a spreading perennial plant which forms thick stands or clumps and the plant grows very quickly. It looks like a grass but is more closely related to the Asparagus or Aloe families.The plant grows up to 400 mm high and has a bushy grass-like appearance, with leaves forming a basal rosette. It has long thin roots without tubers.
Leaves are light green, linear (strap-shaped) and gradually tapering, 300-400 mm long and 10 mm wide. The plant flowers during summer. It produces numerous small, white, star-shaped flowers.
Growing Weeping Anthericum
- Can be grown in sun or partial shade.
- It can be grown in any soil type, but prefers sandy soil with lots of compost.
- Sow seeds just below the soil surface at a depth of about half a centimeter.
- The seeds will take around one to three months to germinate.
- Seedlings can be planted out in spring or autumn.
- The plants will flower within a year of seed being sown.
