Most Cosmos Varieties are native to Mexico where most of the species occur. It is also widespread over the high eastern plains of South Africa, where it was introduced via contaminated horsefeed during the Anglo-Boer War.

Cosmos flowers are in vibrant colors such as red, yellow, orange, white, maroon and pink. With finely cut leaves, slender stems and showy daisy-like flowers, Cosmos is a long-blooming annual which belongs in every garden.
