Pelargonium Varieties include 280 species of perennials, succulents, and shrubs, commonly known as pelargoniums, or storksbills. People often confuse Geraniums with Pelargoniums. Pelargoniums are NOT Geraniums even though they both belong to the family. They are actually completely different plants.

The genus name Pelargonium is derived from the Greek word pelargos , meaning stork, and refers to the shape of the fruit which resembles the beak of a stork.
