Sold as 3 Bay Leaf Tree Cuttings. Bay Leaf Tree (Laurus nobilis) is an evergreen Tree growing to 12 m or more at a slow rate. It can however, also be successfully grown in containers. The species is dioecious – individual flowers are either male or female, but only one sex is to be found on any one plant. Both male and female plants must be grown if seed is required.
Planting the Bay Leaf Tree Cuttings
- Fill a container with a well draining mixture of sandy soil and potting soil..
- Dipping the cuttings in a rooting hormone is optional, but it is beneficial.
- Insert the cuttings into the soil.
- Keep the soil consistently moist, but not overly wet.
- Cover the container with a plastic dome or plastic bag, to retain humidity.
- Place the container in a warm, shady area.
- Once the cuttings take root, you will see new growth forming. This can take several months, so patience is required.
