Black Beauty Eggplant produces big yields. It is a bushy spreading plant with purplish-black oval fruit.This variety is suitable for growing in containers and takes about 80 days to maturity. One plant produces 4 to 6 large rounded fruit.
Growing Black Beauty Eggplant
- Eggplants grow fastest when temperatures are between 21 and 30°C and grow very slowly during cooler weather.
- In South Africa the plant can be grown as a perennial.
- Eggplant will fall over once loaded with fruit, so be sure to stake tall plants or use a cage to keep the plants upright.
- If growing eggplant in containers, stake the stems before the fruit forms.
- Sow Eggplant Seeds directly or in seed beds/seed trays from spring up to mid-summer.
- The eggplant can be planted in the garden but is also well suited for growing in containers.
