China Rose Radish is a Chinese heirloom radish dating back to 1850. The long, cylindrical, tapering roots reach 15-20cm in length and 5cm in diameter. The skin is a beautiful rose color, with white tips and firm white flesh.
Growing China Rose Radish
- Radish seeds can be planted in both the spring and autumn, but growing should be suspended in the height of summer, when temperatures are typically too hot.
- For a spring planting, sow seeds 4–6 weeks before the average date of last frost.
- It’s best to plant radish seeds directly in the garden so as not to disturb their roots. Directly sow seeds outdoors ½ to 1 inch deep and 1 inch apart in rows 12 inches apart.
- Plant another round of seeds every 10 days or so for a continuous harvest of radishes in the late spring and early summer.
- Consistent, even moisture is key. Keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
