Vates Blue Curled Kale Seeds. The compact plants yield tender, blue-green, crinkled leaves that are delicious, very cold hardy and rich in vitamin A. It’s slow to bolt and does not yellow from heat or frost. In fact, light frost actually improves its tenderness. Harvest as baby leaf kale in just 25-30 days. Add fresh to salads, or roast for a surprising, deliciously crisp texture. 50-60 days to maturity.
Growing Vates Blue Curled Kale
- Direct seed about three months before expected autumn frost.
- Plant Kale Seeds ¼ to ½ inch deep, 1 inch apart in rows 18 to 30 inches apart.
- Thin to 12- to 18-inch spacing.
- You can also set out transplants in spring 4 to 6 weeks before average last frost, 12 inches apart, rows 18 to 24 inches apart.
