Darling Vygie Plant is an upright, rounded, perennial succulent shrub, up to 600 mm high, with a robust stem and well-branched habit. Leaves are green to glaucous blue-green and succulent, more or less cylindrical, with a soft tip. The diurnal flowers are 30–40 mm in diameter, and appear in threes at the tips of the branches in June to October. They are pink/mauve/purple with an iridescent/luminous quality, which makes them particularly striking, but only open in bright sunshine.
Plants grow rapidly to full size within a couple of years, but does become woody in time. Flowering continues for many years before plants need to be replaced. The Darling Vygie is an easy, water wise plant that needs little care and attention, perfect for those new to gardening and where good cover and bright color is required. Plant where soil drains well. Flowers attract bees and other insects.
