Red Yard Long Beans – Seeds. Yard long beans are sometimes called Asparagus beans or Chinese Long beans. Red Noodle yard long beans have an unusual purple-red color and are a well-known variety in southern China. They can grow up to 22″ long. The bean will lose its red color when cooked. This vigorous plant is heat tolerant.
Growing Red Yard Long Bean
- Plant Red Noodle Yard Long Bean Seeds just like a regular green bean, about ½ inch deep and a foot or so out from each other in rows or grids.
- Seeds will germinate between 10-15 days.
- Long beans prefer warm summers for maximum production.

It takes awhile for them to really begin to grow and set flowers; it can take two to three months for the plants to flower.

Just like other climbing bean varieties, Chinese long beans need support, so plant them along a fence or give them a trellis or poles to climb up.
