American Elderberry Cuttings – 2 Cuttings

Sold as 2 American Elderberry Cuttings. The American Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis ‘Aurea’) is also known as golden elder, the pie elder, American elder, elder-blow, sweet elder or just elderberry. When grown in full sun, the leaves of mature plants take on a light green golden color. When grown in shade or partial shade, the leaves tend to be a darker green.

The leaves, flowers, fruits and root extracts are used to treat bronchitis, coughs, upper respiratory infections and fever.

Planting the American Elderberry Cuttings

• Fill a container with sandy soil.
• Insert the cuttings into the soil.
• Keep the soil consistently moist, but not overly wet.
• Place the container in a warm, shady area.
• Once the cuttings take root, you will see new growth forming.
• Another method is to root the cuttings in water. Place the cuttings in a container. Add water up to about a third of the cutting’s height. Place the container in a partially shaded area. Refill with water as needed. Once the roots are well developed, transplant into individual pots.
